Sandra B. Boyd (nee Barr)

A resident of Wyndmoor for 60 years, Sandra passed away peacefully on March 28, 2024 at the age of 86 of Alzheimer’s Disease. She is survived by her husband, George Boyd V, nephews, David, John and Peter Hastings, Brewster and Stephen Rhoads, Scott Sholiton and niece Ann Rhoads Littleton. She attended The American Foundation of Dramatic Art, The Clarke Conservatory of Music, and the Philadelphia Musical Academy (now the University of the Arts), earning a degree in the vocal arts, before spending time in New York City.

Her adult life was devoted to music and volunteer work. The greatest love was the Philadelphia Orchestra, where she devoted over 50 years of service as a volunteer and Manager of its gift shop for many years, holding various positions on committees including and The Chestnut Hill Committee for the Philadelphia Orchestra and Musical Cocktails. For twenty years she served as a Pink Lady at the Chestnut Hill Hospital, being active also with the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Medical College of Pa. Over a ten- year period she was Program Chair of the English-Speaking Union and served as a hostess at International House.

A memorial service will be held at the chapel of the Episcopal Academy, Newtown Square, on May 10, at 11 A.M.
