Moonstruck! A united public eyes the sky

Posted

Morris Arboretum & Gardens, the Wissahickon Environmental Center and
Historic Rittenhouse Town were among the many Philadephia-based institutions that sponsored community gatherings for Monday's celestial event, which drew enthusiastic Americans from across the country outside to witness it.

Here in Philadelphia, where the eclipse was nearly 90%, the weather was uncooperative, and brought clouds to cover the sun just as the moon passed over it. But they did help produce some dramatic images for those who pulled out their cameras.

The photos shown here include some taken by Mellany Armstrong, communications coordinator for Morris Arboretum & Gardens, and  Karen Tracy, communications director for Springside Chesnut Hill Academy.
