Oops! It’s already July, you forgot to sign the kids up for camp, and you could really use a week or two to yourself, as a “staycation” from the daily demands of summertime parenting. 

Not to worry. A slew of area museums, art, dance and craft centers are still enrolling for a wide variety of activities, for toddlers through teens, starting in late July through August.

Summerside Camps, 500 W. Willow Grove Ave.

Activities offered by Summerside Camps at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy are so exciting, you’ll wish you were young enough to participate. They include: FabLab Fashion where participants (grades 5-8) create laser-cut acrylic jewelry and learn to use a sewing machine; App Coding for Kids (grades 3-6); Robotics (grades 4-6); Culinary Camp (grades 5-8); Tennis Camp (grades 1-8); Theater Camp (grades 3-8); plus an entire day camp roster with week-long sessions (pre-K-6 grade) that includes the option of aftercare from 3-6 p.m. Note: As long as camp registration appears online, sessions are still open! This community daycare center offers summer camp for ages 5-12 that includes field trips, cooking, STEM, sports and water play. For information call 215-600-4304.

Flourtown Summer Day Camp, 1528 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown

Kids will enjoy a full range of sports, swimming and team games at the Flourtown Swim Club which offers one-week sessions for ages 4-13, July 10 through Aug. 11. From Aug. 7-11, young dancers, ages 5-8, will create and collaborate a dance piece under the supervision of a choreographer to the music of Benjamin Britten's "The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra" which introduces them to the sounds of woodwinds, brass, strings and percussion. Allens Lane Art Center, 601 W. Allens Lane

Allens Lane Day Camp seems to intuitively understand your schedule, allowing you to choose one-week sessions that complement, rather than complicate, your summer plans. You may register for one week, four weeks or all eight weeks, July 10 through August 11 for ages 5 to 15. Activities, geared for each age level, include: Painting, Photography, Ceramics, Printmaking, Collage, Comic Book Art and Textile Art. Children aged 7-17 will discover their inner Picasso or Lin Manuel Miranda in a variety of classes, each running for one week or less, July 11 through Aug. Flexer, who also teaches Woodmere Art Museum’s Pollinator Power Class, offers the same fun class at her Mindy Flexer School for ages 10 and up, with three sessions: Aug. 14-18, Aug. 21-25 and Aug. 28-Sept. 1. “The idea is to get young artists to think about the environment,” said Flexer. “Participants will make a sculptural recreation of the magic nature creates representing flowers, bees, butterflies and bats. Located at the corner of Germantown and Mt Pleasant, Cut & Sew will have your boys and girls, ages 8-16, in stitches. Teens, ages 13-18, can sign-up for a four-day Quilt Camp starting July 24. There is a half-day session, July 17, for ages 8-13 who want to make their own squishy pillow. Intermediate Sew-Your-Own-Clothes Camp, gives kids, ages 10-16, the option of making button-down shirts or high-waisted pants, starting July 17. Teens of all skill levels are welcome to join Soft Sculpture Camp starting July 31. Make Your Own School Supplies Bag is open to ages 8-16 starting Aug. 21.
