Letters: Information is available on the election

On November 2nd, Justice will be on the ballot in Philadelphia and all across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

This election could not be more consequential, with women’s reproductive rights, LGBTQ rights, and the very right to vote at all hanging in the balance.  The stakes could not be higher, as a critical seat on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court will be decisive for the state’s efforts to battle COVID, keep students safe in schools, and provide protections so that no Pennsylvania citizen is victimized by voter suppression schemes.

The 9th Ward Democratic Committee recently met to vote on our recommendations for candidates for the Supreme Court, the Appellate Courts, and our local Philadelphia County courts, as well as the District Attorney’s race, the Comptroller’s race, and the four pending ballot questions.  Our Committee Members have begun distribution our Ward endorsement letters all over Chestnut Hill and Mount Airy, but voters can now also access the Ward’s new website – 9thwarddems.org – to obtain information about the candidates, the ballot questions, as well as information about how to register to vote or request a mail in ballot.   With more than 90,000 voters across the City, including more than 2,900 in the 9th Ward, having already requested mail-in ballots, we want to alert voters to this new resource now and urge our neighbors to visit our website to find out more about our Democratic candidates and the questions that are on the ballot.  Your vote is your voice.  Please make a plan to vote and make your voice heard.

     Sincerely,

Jeffrey Duncan
