Another letter from a cat lover

I enjoyed the “Woodstuck” article (Sept. 14) very much! Not only was it a fun read, but it brought back lots of memories. In the summer of '69, I was waitressing in the Poconos. The then love-of-my-life and I toyed with going to Woodstock, trying to figure out not only how we'd get time off but how we'd get there without a car! Good thing we didn't make it.

As for Blackie needing a vacation: Several years later, I was in a committed, long-term relationship. We had a cat named Buddy and very little money. We couldn't afford a pet sitter; we couldn't even afford a carrier. So Buddy went everywhere with us. I think he logged seven states and two Canadian provinces.

Blackie resembled my Isaak, and his name would suit my Norman, who is all black. I adopted him and his sister, Iris, almost 12 years ago. Sadly, I had to say goodbye to Iris at the end of August.

My friend tells me he sees each issue of the Local and enjoys them. Hopefully, he'll pass along a few more, at least the ones that are about cats.
