Chestnut Hill’s 3000 BC announced on Monday that it would close its 8439 Germantown Avenue location and move its remaining business to its new Center City location.
The Center City location opened in March of this year.
The spa, which owner Korin Kormin opened in Chestnut Hill in 1992, has been a staple of the Germantown Avenue business corridor, but general manager Jennifer Miller told the Local that changing business technologies and the market meant it was time for a change.
“We value our Chestnut Hill clients very much, but in order to continue to grow in other ways, we felt we needed to focus on the Center City location,” she said.
One of those changing services includes massage, which Miller said would soon be offered on demand right to people’s homes. Hillers could use an app to order a massage from 3000 BC and a massage therapist would drive to the customer’s home.
“Technology is really changing the way we serve customers,” Miller said.
Miller said the Chestnut Hill location would serve clients through the end of August. All gift cards will be honored at the Center City location and all regular clients from Chestnut Hill would get a free parking voucher for their first visit.
Miller said the building, which the business owns, would be put up for sale. Chris Plant and Patrick Walsh of Elfant Wissahickon were hired as agents for the property.
