The Chestnut Hill Community Association (CHCA) proudly invites you to a long awaited celebration. After several years of hard work, we are now prepared to dedicate and cut the ribbon on the new Willow Grove Avenue Bridge. As the residents are aware, this a main thruway for vehicles commuting in and out the city limits each day. The bridge is also a main route for those getting to Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, The Philadelphia Cricket Club, St. Martins Church and many other treasured institutions. The entire bridge was reconstructed by a highly skilled team from the Streets Department of Philadelphia.
This Dedication Ceremony will take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m. The entrance to and from the bridge will ONLY be open for pedestrian traffic and closed to vehicles from 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. that day. We recommend that those interested in being part of the festivities either walk to the bridge from their homes or park in the St. Martin Train Station adjacent to the bridge.
The free celebration will include remarks from CHCA Leaders, Department of Streets Commissioner David Perri, Deputy Mayor Clarena Tolson and Managing Director Michael DiBerardinis. The event will feature musical entertainment, an antique car drive-by, and of course the official ribbon-cutting.
We look forward to seeing the entire community gather on the bridge as we usher in the new gateway of Chestnut Hill!
