Teenagers Inc. hosted its annual Taste of Chestnut Hill on Sunday, Nov 23. The event hosted a healthy crowd who tasted food from more than a dozen area restaurants and bid on four tables of various auction items.
What made the evening particularly special was a brief awards ceremony that focused on the contributions of Jane Becker and her late husband Richard Becker, who founded Teenagers Inc. in the 1980s.
In remarks to those in attendance, Becker recounted the founding of the organization and recalled the work of those who. have continued that work – including former director Marianne Dwyer and current director Arianna Neromiliotis.
The organization gave out two new awards to participants. The first, “The Dick and Jane Becker Alumnus Service Award,” was given to program alum and former Teens Inc board member Tyler Jordan Perry. A second award, called “The Champion of Service,” was given to George and Anne Mirsch, a couple who joined the Beckers to work with Teens Inc in 2000.
