Chestnut Hill Hospital's Alpha Kappa Alpha Rho Theta Omega Chapter and New Covenant Church of Philadelphia will present “Healthy Woman 2014,” a free wellness conference designed especially for women.

The event will be held on the New Covenant Campus, at 7500 Germantown Ave. in Mt. Airy, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4. Wellness experts from the region will gather to empower women to live healthier lives through informative and interactive workshops and discussion.

The feature event is “Soliloquy: HerSTORY,” a presentation of real life experiences of women dealing with a variety of health-related issues, performed by members of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.

Medical specialists, including Dr. Lynda Thomas-Mabine, a gynecologist at Chestnut Hill Hospital, and Dr. Raymond Rodriguez, a cardiologist at Penn Medicine, will discuss the significance of early detection and prevention. Dr. Robyn Jones, health coach, will provide information on a holistic approach to overall wellness.

Women can choose workshops to attend on topics such as mental health, nutrition and arthritis, or they can get their hearts pumping with line dancing. Lunch and a health information fair, including an Ask the Doc station staffed by Chestnut Hill Hospital physicians, will round out the day.
