The following report is for offenses reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from April 1 to April 14. 

Chestnut Hill

April 3. Theft. A witness reported a person taking a flat iron, blow dryer and lotions without paying for them from the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue.

April 5. Theft. A witness at the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue saw someone take hair dryers valued at $150 from the store without paying for them.

April 7. Theft from motor vehicle. A woman in the unit block of Bells Mills Road said that someone broke the passenger side window of her rental car and took items including a MacBook and a Valentino handbag.

April 7. Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant visiting family in the 8000 block of Crefeld Street reported that a someone went into their unlocked vehicle, took a large military equipment bag and change wallet, but the bag was found by a pedestrian with nothing missing.

April 8. Theft from motor vehicle. Owner discovered her 2017 Mazda had been ransacked and 75 cents was taken while the car was parked in the unit block of Springfield Avenue.

April 9. Motor vehicle theft. A vehicle was stolen by two males wearing ski masks in the 200 block of Hartwell Lane.

April 9. Theft. A manager of the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue told police that a man filled two trash bags with various items and left the store without paying for them. Manager has photo of the offender.

April 10. Theft. An offender took a hair dryer from the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue without playing for it and fled on foot to Germantown Avenue.

April 10. Theft from motor vehicle A complainant in the 8200 block of Crittenden Street left his vehicle unlocked and an offender took $8 and a pocket knife.

 Mt. Airy

April 1. Intimidation/Threats. A woman filed a report stating that her sister, who lives across the street from her in the 200 block of East Hortter Street, has been sending threatening texts, harassing complainant’s children and stealing packages and furniture after coming onto the complainant’s property.

April 1. Burglary. A cell phone, Ipad and speakers were reported missing from a residence in the 600 block of Vernon Road.

April 2. Theft. Complainant in the 6700 block of Chew Avenue has video footage of two unknown Black men stealing packages from her doorstep.

April 3. Theft. Employee reported a man taking cleaning supplies from a store in the 6500 block of Greene Street and leaving without paying for them.

April 4. Aggravated assault. A student at Holy Cross School in Mt. Airy had an altercation with an offender who stabbed the complainant with a spork in the 100 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue.

April 4. Theft. A man dropped his wallet in the 6500 block of Greene Street and when he returned to retrieve it, the wallet was missing and a tracker the man had on the wallet revealed that it was inside a Mercedes with NJ tags.

April 5. Theft. A security guard at Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue told police that between six and eight people took items from the store without paying for them and ran down Germantown Avenue.

April 5. Theft. Manager of Grocery Outlet reported that he saw an offender take laundry detergent and soda without paying for it. When the offender exited the store, he was arrested by police.  

April 5. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant who had parked their car in front of their sister’s house in the 200 block of West Johnson Street reported the car missing.

April 7. Robbery. A complainant got punched from behind by an offender who took a bag containing his Xbox in the unit block of East Mt. Airy Avenue.

April 8. Theft. A male offender took candy and other items from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them. The items were valued at about $50.

April 8. Theft. Witness saw offenders take hygiene products without paying for them from a store in the 6500 block of Greene Street.

April 15. Theft of motor vehicle. A woman told police that she went to get into her 2022 black Nissan Altima parked in the 400 block of Vernon Road and noticed her license plate was missing.

April 9. Theft. Store owner reported that an offender took a large tote and $1,000 worth of laundry detergent without paying for it in the 6500 block of Greene Street.

April 11. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant in the 100 block of East Sharpnack Street parked her 2013 Elantra, locked it and then reported that a group of males broke into her vehicle and pulled off.

April 12. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported to police that she went outside in the 100 block of West Sharpnack Street and found that her vehicle wasn’t there.

April 13. Aggravated assault. A complainant told police that he was trying to break up a fight between his wife and offenders at the intersection of East Mt. Airy and Germantown avenues when one of the offenders pulled out a gun, pointed it at the complainant and said “back up.” The offender later fled in a white Nissan.

April 14. Theft. A complainant at the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue told police that someone took her purse which contained a cell phone, debit card and keys. The offender opened the complainant’s cash app and transferred money.
