Crime Report: Two thefts from vehicles and three thefts

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill from July 9 to July 15, 2018.

July 9. Theft from vehicle on the 8700 block of Prospect Avenue. A man told police that he discovered his 2012 blue Mini Cooper had been rummaged through at approximately 4:30 a.m. The man told police he could not tell if anything was taken and left the vehicle unlocked. The man also told police that his wife’s vehicle was rummaged through. The man told police he saw three men wearing dark hoodies inside his wife’s vehicle with the dome light on. He said the offenders fled southbound on Summit Avenue. The man’s wife checked her vehicle and could not tell if anything was taken. She said her vehicle was also left unlocked.

July 12. Theft on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue on July 3 at approximately 8:30 p.m. The security guard at CVS told police that a store employee admitted to stealing 20 count Hydrocodone pills and a bag of chips. The items are valued at $51.49. The employee gave the security guard a written confession.

July 14. Theft from vehicle on the 120 block of West Northwestern Avenue. A woman told police that she parked her car in the Wissahickon Valley Park at noon. When she returned around 5:30 p.m., she noticed that her purse was missing from her car. The woman added that she left the vehicle unlocked. The following items were taken one purse (valued at $50) containing ID card, ACESS card and $20 in cash.

July 14. Theft on the 400 block of West Willow Grove Avenue. A man told police that he placed the following items: 20 white plastic chairs, six plastic tables and four cooler stands on the tennis court on the 400 block of W. Willow Grove on July 13 at 6:30 p.m. When he returned on July 14 around 2:14 p.m. the items were gone. No cameras are in the area.

July 14. Theft on the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike at approximately 4:30 a.m. An employee of the business stated that an unknown person took one iPhone 8 Plus (Rose) and $2 in cash from her purse. The woman last tracked her phone to the area of Torresdale Avenue and Tulip Street. The items are valued at $802.
