The following crime report is for crimes in Chestnut Hill from Feb. 12 to Feb. Feb. 18, 2017.
Feb. 13. Burglary on the 8800 block of Germantown Avenue at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. A security officer was notified by three different managers regarding the break in at the Chestnut Hill Hospital Medical Building. The doors leading to the offices showed signs of tampering on the locks. Three metal safes were pried open and $216 in cash was taken.
Feb. 13. Theft from vehicle on the 400 block of East Abington Avenue at approximately 4 p.m. on Feb. 10. A woman told police that an unknown person went inside her unlocked vehicle and removed her registration sticker and insurance card.
Feb. 16. Theft on the unit block of Bethlehem Pike at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Feb. 12. A man told police that he placed a restaurant floor mat outside his property to clean his floors. When he returned to retrieve the mat, he discovered it was missing. The mat is valued at $150.
Feb. 16. Burglary on the 400 block of West Chestnut Hill Avenue at approximately 3:22 a.m. A woman told police she was home, when she received a call from Vector security that her alarm was activated at the kitchen door. Upon arrival, police found the kitchen door closed but unlocked. No signs of forced entry. The owner noticed that her Tod’s navy blue pocketbook was missing, but didn’t realize it was taken until 9 a.m., when she was notified of attempted online purchases of $3200 at Nordstrom and $400 at Neiman Marcus. All cards were canceled and the banks were notified. Taken was one Tod’s navy blue pocketbook ($1,500), one flat gold necklace ($600), one ivory and gold ladies ring ($500), four credit cards, two checkbooks and two checks made out to her deceased mother drawn from Chicago.
Summary: Four crimes for the week – two burglaries, one theft from vehicle and one theft
