Have you seen the eye-catching banners honoring local veterans along Willow Grove Avenue in Wyndmoor and wondered how they got there? 

A local Boy Scout from Springfield Township organized the salute for his Eagle Scout Project. Dominic Antinucci, 18, of Oreland, worked very hard to commemorate our local veterans.

Antinucci is a member of Scout Troop 320, Flourtown. He came up with the idea while traveling with his mom. He noticed the flags in a small town and thought it would be great to have them in Springfield Township.

In addition to the banner-hanging project, the Troop has been busy honoring our local veterans by maintaining the Veterans Park of Springfield Township on Willow Grove Avenue. Twice a year the troop gathers to clear overgrowth, weed, sweep and otherwise beautify the area. They just finished a cleanup this past Saturday. 

Troop 320 also replaces the American flags that decorate the veterans' graves at St. Thomas Church in Flourtown every May.

Troop 320 is honored to tend to these important reminders of our country’s heroes. Part of the Scout Code is “duty to my country” and “to help other people at all times.” This sums up the effort the Scouts have made to revere our local veterans.
