Working Families Party City Councilmembers Kendra Brooks and Nicolas O’Rourke are joining with Seth Anderson-Oberman, who ran against Councilwoman Cindy Bass in the 2023 Democratic primary, to endorse state Rep. Chris Rabb for Pennsylvania’s 3rd Congressional District race.

The announcement took place outside City Hall on March 19, with the Working Families Party, Justice Democrats, One Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia Democratic Socialists of America all endorsing Rabb.

“On behalf of the Pennsylvania Working Families Party, I am proud to stand before you today to support representative Christopher Rabb in his bid for Congress,” O’Rourke said. “As a five-term legislator in one of the largest state legislatures in the country, he has consistently shown what it means to lead with integrity and what it means to lead with conviction. ... Leaders like Chris Rabb remind us what public service is supposed to actually look like: clear values, courageous leadership and a willingness to speak truth to power, even when it’s not easy.”

Brooks echoed O’Rourke statements, saying, “We need leaders in Washington who will put the people first....That’s what we need right now, and we will continue to stand up against the Trump agenda, and that’s why we need to make sure that Chris Rabb is in Congress.”

Speakers from Philadelphia Democratic Socialists of America and OnePa highlighted Rabb’s platform of rejecting corporate money and PAC money from groups like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a pro-Israel lobbying group.

“Our movement has spent years building an alternative to politics as usual, politics where career politicians talk a good game about justice while cozying up to billionaires, corporate PACs and lobbyists who profit from our pain,” Anderson-Oberman said. “Chris Rabb is accountable to us, to working people, black and brown communities, immigrants, tenants, students, teachers and all those pushed to the margins. He takes no corporate PAC money. He takes no AIPAC money. He cannot be bought. And in an era when Donald Trump and his billionaire backers are trying to snuff out whatever is left of our teetering democracy, silence our movements and criminalize dissent, that independence is not just admirable, it’s essential.”
