Tarik Khan missed everything with his op-ed (Chestnut Hill Local, April 30, 2026) promoting speed cameras. He may want to check his data, as PennDOT recently put out data that once again shows record low traffic deaths. There is no widespread carnage on the roads. He should also check why speed limits continue to be posted below the required 85th percentile speed of the roads. With school zones, it is the worst, as many zones are poorly marked, set up incorrectly, confusing, and you have no idea what the speed limit is, when it is in effect, and where it applies.

This is yet again a way to raise revenue and get people to stop driving. Multiple state residents and driving groups testified before various state hearings over the past few years. I suggest that Khan pull up the videos and PDF files to educate himself. There were at least three hearings he could check out. He will not, but the facts are there for all.
