The Freeze Out runs along Main Street and nearby from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., with fun for foodies, shoppers, kids and adults. On the schedule are live ice carving demonstrations, 25-plus ice sculptures, food and beverage specials in restaurants and bars, lion dancing, a snowy igloo, giveaways and more. More than 14 restaurants are taking part in the crawl, each putting their own spin on their chowder. This year’s offerings will include chipotle chicken chowder, tom kah salmon chowder, turkey corn chowder, and traditional clam, according to the organizers.
Tickets are $25 and available at manayunk.com, where you also can download an app that offers interactive maps of all the crawl stops, ice sculptures and other events. You’ll get push notifications to help you stay in the loop with real-time updates, live demos, and more. You can even vote for the best chowder.
Parking will be available at 4000 Main St. and another lot on Green Lane. Handicapped parking will be available at Main and Levering streets.
Included with your Chowder Crawl ticket are one sample from each of the participating restaurants, a wristband and the map. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m. and will take place outside the Manayunk welcome center at 106 Grape St. If you can’t make it at 11:30, you can check in at any point during the crawl at the nearby merchandise tent.
