Three people received emergency care and were taken to the hospital after fire swept through a house at 118 W. Cliveden St. at approximately 3:15 last Wednesday. According to Philadelphia Fire Department spokesperson Kathy Matheson, firefighters arrived to find smoke billowing from the second floor of the two-story rowhouse. It took nearly 40 minutes to control the fire, which also damaged two adjacent homes at 116 and 114 West Cliveden.
According to police, a Philadelphia Fire Marshal declared the fire an arson after a video of a man with a bag fleeing the scene was shown by a witness. The Fire Department wouldn’t comment on the investigation.
More than 60 PFD members responded, including firefighters, medics, chiefs and support personnel.
