Springside Chestnut Hill Academy senior Ian Caplan has been selected as a recipient of the 2012-2013 Comcast Leaders and Achievers Scholarship.
This award, funded through The Comcast Foundation, recognizes high school seniors from Comcast communities for commitment to community service, academic achievement, and demonstrated leadership. To acknowledge these accomplishments, Comcast grants recipients a one-time award of $1,000.
“Throughout his SCH career, Ian has garnered numerous awards for scholarship, citizenship, and leadership,” said Polly Kimberly, SCH associate director of college counseling. “His brand of leadership is understated, inclusive, and girded by strong convictions that he is not afraid to express.”
In addition to leading his class in grade point average, serving as president of the class for all four years of high school and directing the lacrosse team from his position in the goal cage, Caplan has “set the tone for his class’s modus operandi,” Kimberly said
“His class is known for its serious scholarship and commitment to integrity, sportsmanship, and loyalty qualities that Caplan has modeled in abundance,” she said.
