Jenks Academy for the Arts and Sciences continues to attract local businesses that – using a variety of means – lend their support to further the education opportunities for the school's students.
The most recent local entity to contribute to the school's ongoing effort to better its educational programming, mainly its S.T.E.M. program – Jenks' area of study dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – is the Chestnut Hill Rotary Club and District Rotary 7450.
The Rotary Clubs, whose slogan is “Service above self,” raised $4,000 for a new library and media center for Jenks.
This focus on improving the S.T.E.M program is, for Jenks and its students, crucial. The expertise that STEM affords students leads to a wider array of potential careers where diverse jobs, better pay and growth await.
The Chestnut Hill Rotary Club has been serving the neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy since 1995. On its website, its stated mission is “helping others, improving the community, providing financial resources to those less fortunate, and certainly, enjoying fellowship.”
The Club has been involved with Jenks in other ways, too, having been a part of Jenk's Reading Program. The club is also involved in numerous community projects. One of the club's commitments is improving the physical appearance of the community, such as various street and avenue cleanups and the restoration and maintenance of the Pergola between Mt. Airy and Chestnut Hill. Its members have also volunteered for the Chestnut Hill Blood Drive, participating in calls and staffing.
