Rescheduled Chestnut Hill Home + Garden Festival sees sun, fun and success

On Sunday, May 18, between 9,000 and 10,000 attendees visited Germantown Avenue for this year’s Home + Garden Festival. Despite the event’s two-week rain delay, 110 Chestnut Hill businesses and 230 outside vendors came together on a windy, sunny day.

It was wonderful to see attendees walking the full length of the festival — up and down the hill.  From Willow Grove to Rex,” Chestnut Hill Business District executive director Courtney O'Neill wrote in an email to the Local. “[F]olks were in and out of stores and restaurants in addition to engaging with all the businesses set up on Germantown Avenue. The weather was beautiful, so a nice payoff for switching to the rain date.”

Although 45 original vendors were unable to attend on the new date, several waitlisted vendors filled many of the vacated slots. According to the CHBD, the event was a success.

“The festival is organized and run by our small team of four with support from a crew of helpers on festival day,” O’Neill said. “We work with the City of Philadelphia Office of Special Events, and we are grateful for their partnership along with the Philadelphia Police Department, Philadelphia Fire Department and Department of Streets. We couldn’t do it without them. Or our sponsors – especially our longtime presenting sponsor - Glanzmann Subaru.”
