The closure was not related to the ongoing budget issues SEPTA is currently facing.
SEPTA maintains around 350 bridges, with many dating back to the 1800s and early 1900s, all requiring significant upkeep. The project rehabilitated the five structures, completing concrete, steel, and masonry work, among other maintenance and improvements.
With the project wrapping up, SEPTA reopened limited service between CHE and Wayne Junction Station only. For travel between CHE and Center City, riders must transfer at Wayne Junction Station.
Due to construction, only 10 parking spaces are available at CHE. A temporary schedule is posted at the station and on SEPTA’s website.
