Mourning loss of MALT coordinator

Posted

We are deeply saddened by the passing of John O'Donnell (“Local historian, author and record runner dies at 77,” July 20). Since last May, he was our education coordinator at Mt. Airy Learning Tree (MALT), welcoming new teachers into our program and creating engaging classes. His exceptional writing and editing talents shone through in our catalog and the beautifully created guides he produced for our Annual Garden Tour.

He was very active and often rode his bike to work from Chestnut Hill over the McCallum Street Bridge to our office at Greene and Hortter Streets. We will miss our friend and colleague's stories, perspective and intelligence. He was a vital part of our three-person team here at MALT, and we are mourning his loss.
