The Trustees of the Former Agents of the FBI Foundation awarded a scholarship for the 2021-2022 academic year to Margaret “Maggie” Mikalic, a recent graduate of Mount Saint Joseph Academy in Flourtown.
At the Mount, Maggie was a student-athlete, the “Rookie of the Year” as a freshman swimmer. She went on to swim for the Mount Magic team for four years, breaking school records. She finished her high school sports career as a finalist at States. Maggie, a resident of Ambler, will attend Lehigh University, P C Rossin School of Engineering, in Bethlehem, where she will major in Chemical Engineering and swim on Lehigh’s Division I Women’s Swimming and Diving team.
She is the daughter of former FBI Special Agent James P. Mikalic. Mikalic served from 1988 through 2009, assigned to New York City, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia. For most of his career he worked on the Joint Terrorism Task Force.
The Former Agents of the FBI Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, Inc., located in Dumfries, Virginia. The funding of the Foundations’ Scholarship Program is based in part on the generous contributions of current members of the Society of Former Special Agents of the FBI, as well as contributions left through sizeable bequests over the years. Scholarships are granted to outstanding students based on academic achievement, leadership, community service and financial need. For the 2021-22 academic year, the Foundation has awarded 111 scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $5,000.
