Marilyn Louise (Schmitt) Fungaroli was born on March 4, 1933, in the city of Cleveland, Ohio. She was the third child of Helene and Paul Schmitt. Marilyn attended the Academy of Notre Dame high school, and upon her graduation, she continued her academic journey at Chestnut Hill College, where she achieved an A.B. in Political Science in 1955. In her career, Marilyn was proud of her service as a civilian Federal government employee of the Quartermaster Corps of the United States Army.

In 1959, Marilyn and Al Fungaroli joined their lives in matrimony, and their enduring love lasted for over 57 years until Al's passing. During marriage, they were blessed with the arrival of four daughters, and thereafter five grandchildren. In 1975, Marilyn helped Al in the founding of Applied Geotechnical and Environmental Services Corp. She was an integral part of the growth and success of the business until their retirement in 2003.

Marilyn was a dedicated and affectionate wife, a loving mother, and a cher- ished grandmother. She was an avid artist, competitive Bridge and Scrabble player, and she loved to travel. A woman of deep faith, her travels included pilgrimages to the Vatican and Medjugorje.

Marilyn is survived by her sister, Joan Markham, her daughters Elaine, Janet (Bill), Linda (Andre), and Joanne (Kevin), and her five beloved grandchildren: Alex, Brandon, Allison, Lauren, and Kayla.A celebration of Life for Marilyn was held on Monday, May 12, 2025 at Saint Helena Church, Blue Bell, located at 1489 Dekalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. Visitation began at 10:00 AM with a Catholic funeral mass following. Interment was at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery located at 3301 W Cheltenham Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19150. 

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur for continuation of their missionary work in Marilyn's memory.
