Letter: Today is a Good Day

Thanksgiving 2022 might be a distant memory for many but it's still vivid at the Today is a Good Day organization.

It’s a precious time of year for us. Many of our volunteers and our family have bittersweet memories of holidays spent in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with a fragile baby.

But we also have incredible gratitude for the individuals, both clinical professionals and everyday members of the community, who helped our family through the tough times.

On that note, we want to thank the team at The Fresh Market led by store manager John Rotoli and floral and gift specialist Angie Bush. On Tuesday, Nov. 22, Today is a Good Day volunteers delivered Thanksgiving dinners to families with babies in 15 Philadelphia-area hospital NICUs.

Our Thanksgiving Meal Project requires several teams of culinary professionals working eight-hour overnight shifts in The Fresh Market kitchen. They cook and assemble complete Thanksgiving dinners. In 2022, they individually packaged dinners included 300 fresh turkeys and gravy, cranberry relish, Yukon Gold potatoes and a green bean medley. The Fresh Market team makes it look easy with drive and a spirit of generosity which starts at the top with Angie and John.

Before our plans for the 2023 Thanksgiving Meal Project solidify, we wanted to show our appreciation to The Fresh Market team and thank them for tirelessly making Thanksgiving a little brighter for local NICU families.
