It has been said that Chestnut Hill is a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood. However, after COVID restrictions were lifted, and cars poured onto the roads again, I've witnessed many scofflaws, especially those that disregard stop signs.

I'm not talking "the Philly stop." I'm seeing motorists who zoom right through four-way intersections, not looking, not even slowing down, much less stopping, as if the stop signs weren't there. Add speeding to that and failure to yield at pedestrian walkways and you've got quite the gauntlet for someone trying to cross the street.

Yes, police are busy with more major offenses, but if they could issue a few moving violation citations at some of the more "dangerous" intersections,  such as Mermaid Lane and Winston Road, Winston and Willow Grove Avenue, Willow Grove and Ardleigh Street,  and maybe a couple up on St. Martins Lane or Seminole Street, maybe cars would slow down. Either that or remove the stop signs altogether, let cars smash into each other, and then for a time, there'd be less of them and we can walk safely again.
