What these careless women (they are almost always women) are doing is as stupid and dangerous as a mother who leaves a child locked in a car while she gambles at a casino. But for some of these baby carriage road runners, obliviously cruising down the lane isn’t enough. Twice in the past two weeks a woman insisted on squeezing by the front of my car as I was backing into my driveway, as if she and her baby had some kind of hazard immunity. Or perhaps assuming that their safety was entirely my responsibility and none of theirs. The next time you see one of these maniac mommas, report them to the state (800-932-0313) or city (215-683-6100) Department of Human Services.
