The top team in the women’s college summer league remained undefeated last week, but lower down in the standings there was a team that picked up its first victory of the 2026 season.
Team Royal Crown is one of the few ballclubs composed entirely of NCAA Division III players, including 2026 Germantown Academy graduate Jennifer Fox, who’ll attend Franklin & Marshall College. Royal Crown, made up mainly of athletes from Immaculata University, crept close to the win column back on July 1. They lost by a single point to Electric Pink, a squad whose roster includes Fox’s former GA classmate, Sylvie Harrington (Gettysburg College).
Royal finally enjoyed a victorious outcome July 7, when they defeated Electric Green, 56-46. Fox, starting to look like her old self after a long layoff with a knee injury, scored five points in the victory. GA grad Gabby Bowes gave Electric Green nine points on three three-pointers. Bowes, who’ll be a sophomore at Millersville University, is one of two Division II players on the Green team, which has eight players from Gwynedd Mercy University and two from DeSales University.
Royal Crown would end the week with a 1-6 record following its 76-55 loss on July 8 to Purple Haze, a team made up mostly of women from Division II schools. Fox netted a three-pointer in that game, while Purple received 14 points from Plymouth Whitemarsh and West Chester University grad (’25) Anna McTamney. Also scoring in double digits for the winners was Bry Hicks (10 points), a rising senior at Chestnut Hill College.
The previous night, Purple prevailed in a much closer game (53-47) against Electric Pink. Pink, which includes GA’s Harrington and her future Gettysburg teammate Bailey Balkir (Gwynedd Mercy Academy ’26), was up 24-23 at the half, but Purple turned the tide with a 20-15 third quarter.
Balkir scored 11 points for Pink, while Purple received eight from McTamney and 11 from fellow PW alum Erin Daley (West Chester U. ‘27).
The other two games on July 7 pitted two teams powered by Division II players against opponents mostly hailing from DIII programs.
League leader Team Aquatic (almost all from Holy Family University) topped Team Citrine Orange, 85-66. Orange actually received a game high of 25 points from Natalie Mehl, a graduate of Ursinus College (’24) who made seven three-point field goals. Orange also had GA and Ursinus grads Charlotte and Sarah DiLello score 10 and three points, respectively.
Jefferson University’s Team Blackstar, which has lost only to Aquatic, won their tilt against Team Sunburst (mostly current Ursinus players), 81-56. Seniors Gabby Recinto and Emily Spratt scored 18 and 14 points in the winning cause, and sophomore Caleigh Sperling had 14. Blackstar (5-1) had a bye on July 8, while Aquatic took down Electric Pink 70-47 and rose to a 6-0 record. Holy Family junior Amy Ngo, out of Upper Dublin High School, posted a game-high 23 points for the victors, nailing five three-pointers.
GA grad Bowes hit three threes and totaled a team-high 13 points as Electric Green (4-2 at week’s end) took a 59-55 decision from Citrine Orange (2-4). Orange took a 43-37 lead into the fourth quarter but only had two players score in the final frame. Green had six different players find the basket as they won the quarter (22-12) and the game.
In the other July 8 game, which featured a cast of Division III players, Team Jade (2-4) edged out Sunburst (1-5) by one point, 64-63. Sunburst cruised into the final period ahead by a dozen points, then were outscored 21-8 over the last 10 minutes.
