Katherine “Kitty” Marie Detwiler

It is with great sadness that Chestnut Hill resident Thomas Detwiler announces the passing of his grandmother Katherine “Kitty” Marie Detwiler, age 93, of Philadelphia, PA, She passed away in Fort Worth, TX where she lived for the past 11 years near her oldest daughter. She departed this life peacefully on May 20, 2026  at Wedgewood Nursing Home, Fort Worth.

She was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 16, 1933, daughter of the late Francis “Ace” “Frank” and Estelle Miller Sigwart. She grew up in East Falls, PA and lived there until 1964 after which she lived in Montgomery County until 2016. Uma, as she was known as by her family, will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, craft making, and dedication to anything she was involved in especially BINGO!  

In 1985, she retired from Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA where she worked for 20 years to take care of one of her daughters, Jeanne, who was disabled from a vehicle accident and grandson Thomas.  

Kitty was preceded in death by her four brothers, two sisters, son Denis in 1997, her daughter Jeanne in 2008, and ex-husband Ralph Edwards Detwiler in 2017, father to their six children.

Kitty is survived by her children Kathy (Jim), Ralph (Su Cha) of Texas, and Steven (Bobbette), Denise (Rod), her cousin Linda Sigwart Klepac of Pennsylvania, 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and friends.  

There will be no viewing. Following cremation at Harper & Lucas Funeral & Cremations in Fort Worth, Texas. A burial will be held later at George Washington Memorial Park in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
