The first Fran Accetta Memorial Gift was awarded to Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels by Valley Green Bank and The Rotary of Chestnut Hill.
Acetta was a beloved Chestnut Hill resident and a well respected figure in the banking community. She was Valley Green Bank's first business developer when the Bank opened in 2005. Since 1995 she was active with the Rotary as a charter member. Accetta had a soft spot for Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels, respecting its mission of helping those in need.
During his remarks, Jay Goldstein, President and CEO of Valley Green Bank, talked about Acetta's long history in banking, the pivotal role she played at Valley Green Bank, where she was admired by colleagues and customers, and her love for The Rotary of Chestnut Hill. Goldstein was personally pleased that Meals on Wheels received this award and recounted his experience with the organization as a 14-year-old boy when he delivered meals to homebound people with his grandparents.
Joining Goldstein for the the check presentation were (from left): Dale Thistlethwaite, Rotary Charter member and Valley Green Bank's Mt. Airy Branch; Larry Simmons, CHMOW volunteer; Herb Henze, President of the The Rotary Club of Chestnut Hill; Goldstein; Laurene Topping, Board Vice-President of CHMOW; James Akerberg, CHMOW volunteer; and Pat Harrington, Chestnut Hill Meals on Wheels Executive Director.
