More than 300 participants packed the gyms at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy in Chestnut Hill and and La Salle College High School in Wyndmoor on Saturday for “Hoops Madness.” The 11th annual event, organized by the Chestnut Hill Community Association, uses basketball as a platform to promote healthy competition, community spirit, the benefits of volunteerism, and the importance of having fun. “We were fortunate to have the opportunity to share and to build on our unique event with so many valued participants, their families and friends and our amazing volunteers,” said Brien Tilley, the CHCA Hoops Madness chair. “Our community united to make this one of our best Hoops Madness to date.” The event is inspired by March Madness, the NCAA college basketball championship, and offered kids ages 5-18 and adults of any age a chance to play half court, 3-on-3 games of basketball, and participate in a variety of shooting contests.
