I’m glad Len Lear is back. I just read his sad tale. It sounds horrific, but miraculously and with great endeavor, he came out of this. Good for him. He doesn’t know me, and I don’t know him, but I’ve had a few pieces in the Local over the years, and I always read his columns. All nicely done. I just wanted to write this to add some support and reassurance and congratulations, if that’s an appropriate response. As for getting winded after two blocks, in 2005, I had heart surgery, a mitral valve repair, the first one done robotically. When returning from my first walk, I couldn’t make it back up my slightly inclined driveway in Wyndmoor. My wife had to come help me. He’ll get there. Today, I’m climbing mountains.
