Grateful for article on cataract surgery

Posted

Reading Len Lear's recent article about successful cataract surgery ("Overcoming the Fear of Age-Related Cataract Surgery," May 11) encouraged me to have it done as well. My cataracts were, or are, amber-colored, thus the shock of seeing so much bright color now is rather horrifying. Dr. Jeffrey McMahon at the Wills Surgery Center in Conshohocken said that once the "sibling" eye has a clear lens, my brain will take it in stride and begin to make sense of it all.

It is so lovely to see distance sharply. I had forgotten how exquisitely beautiful the world is. I realize that I have been mildly depressed for some time, and I think that I can attribute some of that to living in a blurry world. I coped, of course, as one usually does, but it feels as though a burden has been lifted, and I have been given a gift. Indeed, I have been. Thanks for the encouragement. I hope the article uplifts others as well.
