Deep discounts at Chestnut Hill warehouse sale, April 5-6

Posted

The group of Chestnut Hill businesswomen who host the biannual warehouse sale on Germantown Avenue typically offer the event in the spring and this year’s April 5-6 sale is no different. But the planning stages gave a new meaning to crunch time.

In February, at the group’s monthly get-together for coffee, Stephanie Jones, owner of Jonesy’s Accessories boutique, told her fellow businesswomen, “We need to have a March sale,” recounted Cynthia Fillmore, of Windfall Gallery. “We said, ‘Wait, what?’ but Stephanie said, ‘Come on ladies, we can do it.’”

And they have, even though they missed March by just a few days. The sale will be noon to 8 p.m. Friday, April 5, to help support the Avenue’s new First Friday event, Arts & Eats, and continue Saturday, April 6, from 11 to 6 p.m. On both days, the sale will be at 8514 Germantown Ave.

The warehouse sale will feature deeply discounted items from at least seven shops in Chestnut Hill including El Quetzal, TC Unlimited, Host, Quelque Chose, Bohemian Pink, Jonesy’s and Windfall. The sale is traditionally apparel-focused, but has expanded this year and is open to any and all businesses in the neighborhood.

“And, we would love to have more join us for coffee,”  Fillmore said. The invitation is for anyone.” The group’s next meeting will be hosted by Yolanda Palmer at her shop, Foliage.

This year, the business owners will offer visitors a pour of Prosecco as they “Sip and Shop” and each purchase will come with a ticket to a raffle at which shoppers can win an item donated by each of the shop owners.
