Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy are two of the first of ten communities in the region receiving up to twelve large-scale framed pictures representing masterpieces from the Museum’s vast collections of American, European, Latin American, East and South Asian art. The artwork will be on display through mid-August 2015.
It is all part of Inside Out, a major national arts initiative funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. In Chestnut Hill, five of the masterpieces from the Philadelphia Museum of Art are partnered with pieces from Woodmere Art Museum. The first Chestnut Hill pieces were installed on May 12 at the Philadelphia Print Shop, featuring "Sunflowers" by Vincent Van Gogh and "Flowering Surprise" by Philadelphia artist Peter Paone.
