The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 9 to May 15. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

There were no crimes to report in Chestnut Hill.

Mt. Airy

May 9 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant making a delivery to the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue reported an offender stealing two boxes each containing 30 cartons of cigarettes out of the back of his delivery truck. The offense was caught on Wawa security cameras. 

May 9 Burglary. An offender broke through the gate of a construction site located on the 200 block of West Johnson Street and stole lumber.

May 10 Theft. The manager of a wine and spirits store on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue witnessed an offender leave the store with merchandise they did not pay for. 

May 11 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported letting a potential buyer for his car test drive the vehicle before sale. The offender never returned with the car and stopped responding to phone calls. 

May 11 Aggravated assault. An offender choked and pushed a woman in a residence on the 200 block of East Upsal Street after he found out she had been texting another man. He also threatened to kill her, her baby and himself in the process.

May 12 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant witnessed offenders stealing the catalytic converter off a parked car on the unit block of West Sharpnack Street.

May 13 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their car window smashed in with catering equipment, including pots, pans and serving trays, being stolen from the car. The car was parked on the 500 block of Wellesley Street.

May 13 Burglary. A complainant who lives on the 6700 block of Musgrave Street reported her rear door having been broken with a crowbar that was located nearby. It is unclear if any items from inside the house were stolen. 

May 14 Theft from motor vehicle. A vehicle parked at the Allens Lane Art Center, located on the 600 block of West Allens Lane, was broken into after a window was smashed. The offender stole a backpack. 

May 14 Theft. A complainant reported that his locked bicycle was stolen from a bike rack on the 6400 block of Germantown Avenue. The bicycle’s lock was broken. 

May 15 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported her car having been broken into while it was parked near the Devil’s Pool parking lot on Livezey Lane.

May 15 Theft from motor vehicle. A car parked on the 6500 block of Park Line Drive had its window smashed and a laptop inside was stolen.
