The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 17 to July 22.

The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 17 to July 22. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

July 17 Theft. A man who lives on the 8600 block of Evergreen Place reported multiple bikes being stolen while he was away.

July 18 Carjacking. A man reported having shot one of the offenders who tried to carjack him with firearms on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue,

July 18 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant stated that an offender broke their front passenger window on the 40 block of West Bells Mill Road and stole his wallet and $50.

July 18 Robbery. A woman reported being punched in the mouth in the 100 block of Bethlehem Pike by an offender who also stole her bingo chips.

July 21 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant returned to their car, which was parked near the corner of West Northwestern Avenue and Forbidden Drive, to find their bowling ball missing. 

July 22 Theft from motor vehicle. A man who parked his car near the Wissahickon Valley Trail entrance on West Northwestern Street reported his window being shattered while he was gone. Items, including cash, credit cards and a wallet, were stolen.

July 22 Theft from motor vehicle. A man who parked his car near the Wissahickon Valley Trail entrance on West Northwestern Street reported his handgun going missing from the center console upon his return. 

July 22 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman who parked her car near the Wissahickon Valley Trail entrance on Wolcott Drive returned to find her window shattered. Items, including a wallet, social security card and credit cards, were stolen from the vehicle. 

July 22 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car window being shattered while parked on the 8000 block of Winston Street. The steering column was damaged in the process.

Mt. Airy

July 17 Robbery. An offender was witnessed leaving Acme, located on the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue, with items they did not pay for. 

July 17 Motor Vehicle Theft. A complainant reported his motorcycle being stolen from the 1100 block of Livezey Lane while he was walking the Wissahickon Trail.

July 17 Motor Vehicle Theft. A complainant’s car went missing from the 6600 block of Blakemore Street. The keys were left inside the vehicle while it was parked overnight.

July 17 Theft from Motor Vehicle, Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property, and Credit Card/Automated Teller Machine Fraud. A man returned to his vehicle located on the 700 block of Cornelia Place after a hike and discovered that his passenger window was broken into. His wallet and credit card were stolen.

July 17 Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. A complainant returned to their vehicle in the 100 block of East Northwestern Avenue after walking in the park, and discovered that their passenger front window was smashed and items were taken. Items consisted of bags, wallet, bank cards and medication.

July 17 Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property, Theft from Motor Vehicle. A complainant returned to their vehicle on Kitchens Lane and Wissahickon Avenue to discover that their window was broken and items were stolen. Items consisted of bags, earbuds, and miscellaneous cards.

July 19 Burglary. A woman reported two bikes being stolen from inside her house, which is located on the 8000 block of Navajo Street.

July 19 Shoplifting. A manager at Acme, located on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street, reported an offender leaving the store with merchandise they did not pay for. 

July 20 Shoplifting. An offender left the CVS, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, with items they did not pay for. 

July 20 Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported her car window being shattered while parked on the 6600 block of Quincy Street. The ignition was damaged as well. 

July 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported notary equipment, credit cards and a cell phone being stolen from her car while it was parked on the 300 block of West Hortter Street.

July 22 Motor vehicle theft. A man’s car went missing from the 6600 block of Sprague Street. 

July 22 Motor vehicle theft. A man’s car went missing from the 6500 block of Emlen Street. 

July 22 Motor vehicle theft. A man who parked his car on the 200 block of West Upsal Street returned to find it missing.
