Crime Report: Gun drawn on hospital security guard, Family Dollar robbed at gunpoint

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy from Dec. 28 to Jan. 3.

Dec 31 Retail theft from 7700 block of Crittenden Street. A store employee told police he saw a woman take hair products from a store and leave without paying for them.

Jan. 1 Aggravated, armed at Chestnut Hill Hospital, 8815 Germantown Ave. An unarmed security guard at Chestnut Hill Hospital told police he asked a man to leave the hospital vestibule. The man walked outside but returned and drew a handgun from his waistband and pointed it at the guard. The guard stepped back and the man left without further incident.

Jan. 4 Burglary on 8300 block of Millman Street. Someone forced open a shed in the rear of the property and took an unspecified number of bicycles worth $1,800.

Mt. Airy

Dec. 30 Theft from vehicle on 7600 block of Stenton Ave. A woman told police that while her car was parked, someone entered her car and stole the following: pocketbook, wallet with ID and credit card, keys, ibuprofen bottle, oxycodone, insurance and registration for car.

Dec. 30 Retail theft at Acme, 7010 Germantown Ave. A store employee saw someone in the store placing items into a backpack. Police were called and the person was arrested.

Dec. 31 Theft from vehicle, 7600 block of Stenton Ave.  A woman told police someone took her wallet containing ID and credit cards from her unlocked car.

Dec. 31 Theft at 7200 block of Germantown Ave. A man told police he put bags down and went inside of store. When he came out, his bags were gone. Bags contained approximately $100 worth of goods.

Jan 1. Aggravated Assault with weapon on the 6700 block of Emlen St. A man told police he was in an apartment and a man told him “I don’t like you,” lifted his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband and said, “I’ll put a hole in your chest.” The man left without further incident.

Jan. 2 Theft from CVS, 7065 Lincoln Drive. A store employee saw a man fill a shopping cart with approximately $300 worth of items and leave the store without paying.

Jan. 3 Armed robber of Family Dollar, 6555 Greene Street. A store employee said a man entered the store, drew a handgun and said, “Give up the money.:  The man took two cash register drawers and fled. A tracking device from one of the registers was found at the intersection of Wayne Ave. and Lincoln Drive.
