Crime Report: 7 thefts from auto, several assaults

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period between August 2 to August 8. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

No significant crimes reported.

Mt. Airy

May 10 Theft from auto. Plate stolen from a car in the 6900 block of McCallum St. The woman then received an EZ Pass ticket charged to the plate.

July 31 Theft. A package was stolen outside the front door of an apartment complex in the 100 block of W. Washington Lane.

Aug 2 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her parked vehicle at Wissahickon Avenue and Kitchens Lane to discover her purse missing from under the seat. There was no sign of forced entry. Her cards were used to make $650 in purchases at a nearby pharmacy.

Aug 3 Aggravated assault. During an argument, guns were pointed as a threat.

Aug 3 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her car parked on the 6500 block of Park Line Drive and discovered his front passenger window broken. Her purse was missing. Her card was used to make $538.40 in purchases at a nearby pharmacy.

Aug 3 Theft from auto. A man discovered his car, parked outside his house in the 100 block of Phil-Ellena St., found his passenger window broken and a DeWalt hammer drill missing, valued at $700.

Aug 3 Theft. An assailant snatched a woman’s purse and fled.

Aug 3 Theft from auto. A man returned to his parked vehicle in the 6500 block of Park Line Drive to discover his front passenger window broken. His card was used to make $538.40 in purchases at a nearby pharmacy.

Aug 4 Thefts. Several bottles of vodka, total value $31.00, were shoplifted from a liquor store in the 7200 block of Germantown Ave.

Aug 4 Robbery. Someone entered through the rear door and removed the hot water heater, HVAC items, and tools. Estimated value is $30,000.00.

Aug 5 Theft. A woman received notice her package had been delivered to her home in the 900 block of E. Cliveden St. When she returned home it was not there.

Aug 5 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her car parked on the 6500 block of Park Line Drive and discovered her front passenger window broken. Her purse was missing.

Aug 6 Stolen bicycle. A man discovered his bike missing from the storage area in an apartment complex in the 500 block of W. Hortter St. Value estimated at b$1400.00.

Aug 6 Stolen bicycle. A second man discovered his bike also missing from the storage area in an apartment complex in the 500 block of W. Hortter St., plus a tool bag. Total estimated value: $800.00.

Aug 7 Theft from auto. A woman returned to her parked vehicle at Kitchen Lane and Scotford Rd. t and discovered her front passenger window broken. Her cards were used to make $500 in purchases at a nearby pharmacy.

Aug 8 Assault. An argument in a restaurant at W. Mt. Airy and Germantown Aves. And continued outside, where the assailant assaulted the woman. He was arrested. The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of her facial injuries.
