Crime Report: 3 thefts from cars,  2 retail  thefts, gunfire reported

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period between Mar.15 to Mar. 21

Chestnut Hill

Mar. 16 Theft from vehicle on the 8100 block of Germantown Ave. A truck owner reported their back window smashed and $300 worth of tools and construction equipment taken.

Mar. 20 Theft from vehicle at Valley Green. A woman parked her car at Valley green to go for a run. When she returned, she noticed her front passenger side window broken. Stolen from her vehicle were her wedding ring, worth $1,200, apple air pods and her wallet containing credit cards.

Mar. 21 Theft from vehicle at Seminole and W. Chestnut Hill Ave. Owner parked their car in the area and went for a walk. When they returned, they found the front passenger side window broken and $350 of unspecified items taken.

Mt. Airy

Mar. 16 Retail theft on 7000 block of Lincoln Dr. Store employee saw a man fill a cart with approximately $300 of body wash bottles. Man left the store, loaded the bottles in a black Lexus and fled the location.

Mar. 16 Retail theft of Wine and Spirits Shop, 7204 Germantown Ave. Police responded to a burglar alarm at the location and found the front door had been pried open. Security camera footage revealed a man had entered through the front door, loaded a blue bag with various bottles of liquor and fled.

Mar. 18 Aggravated assault with a handgun at Cherokee and West Weaver streets. Police responded to a report of gunshots at the location and found nine shell casings and the complainant in the front seat of his car. It doesn’t appear anyone was struck by the gunfire.
