The following report is for offenses reported in Chestnut Hill for the period from May 2 to May 16. Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included. 

Chestnut Hill

May 2. Motor vehicle theft. A vehicle parked in the Market Square shopping Center in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street went missing.

May 5.  Theft. A complainant told police that while at a laundry mat in the Market Square Shopping Center in the 7700 block of Crittenden Street, a purse with cash, a bottle of Adderall and a cholesterol medication was taken.

May 14. Theft. Complainant said an offender broke into his vehicle in the 7900 block of Crefeld Street and stole cash.

May 15. Vandalism, motor vehicle theft. Complainant left his vehicle parked at Valley Green Road and Wolcott Drive and when he returned a window was broken and debit and credit cards, and a phone were missing.

May 16. An offender took cosmetics from a store in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue without paying for them.

Mt. Airy

The following report is for offenses reported in Mt. Airy for the period from May 11 to May 19. Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included. 

April 1. Embezzlement. An employee at the CVS in the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive took 917 Tramadol pills from the pharmacy. The drug is an opioid used to relieve pain.

May 11. Motor vehicle theft.  A woman told police an offender broke into her car parked in the 6400 block of Germantown Avenue, broke the window and a phone charger, and also damaged the transmission and steering column.

May 12. Motor vehicle theft. A woman said the passenger window of her car parked in the middle of 500 block of West Sedgwick Street was broken and the steering column damaged.

May 12. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant told police an offender broke into his vehicle parked in the 6800 block of Wayne Avenue and damaged the steering column but nothing was taken. He also told police that a pro-Palestine sign in front of his property was missing.

May 12. Theft. Complainant said her license plate was taken from her Acura parked in the 6400 block of Greene Street.

May 12. Vandalism, motor vehicle theft. Complainant told police that their vehicle in the unit block of East Mt. Pleasant Avenue was broken into, the steering column damaged and the offender took power tools from the vehicle.

May 12. Motor vehicle theft. A car parked in the 7000 block of Pipers Glen Way went missing.

May 13. Theft. A woman in the unit block of Westview Avenue told police that she ordered a delivery from Omaha Steaks and the food was gone.

May 13. Motor vehicle theft. A complainant told police that an offender broke the window of her car parked in the 400 block of West Sedgwick Avenue and damaged her steering column.

May 13. A woman whose car legally was parked in the 1100 block of East Sharpnack Street told police  her car was missing and that her ring camera showed offenders looking into the vehicle with a flashlight and the vehicle may have been taken by a tow truck.

May 15. A complainant said an offender gained access to their vehicle in the 1100 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue and took $200 and a debit card.

May 15. Motor vehicle theft. A woman in the unit block of West Hortter Street told police she had parked her car in the apartment complex lot and when she returned two days later, the car was gone.

May 15. An offender took bottles of detergent from the Family Dollar in the 6500 block of Greene Street.

May 16. Theft from motor vehicle. Complainant at United Lutheran Seminary in the 7300 block of Germantown Avenue forgot to lock his car and a dell laptop, loose change, and knives were taken.

May 16. Vandalism, motor vehicle theft. Complainant told police he parked his car in the 7200 block of Bryan Street and when he returned the next day the rear window was broken and the steering column ripped out.

May 16. Vandalism, theft. A man reported that he parked his car in the 1000 block of Kitchens Lane to go fishing and when he returned the window was broken and items including a laptop and clothing were missing.

May 16. Vandalism, theft. A complainant said she parked her vehicle in the 7400 block of Boyer Street and when she returned a window and her steering column were broken.

May 16. An offender took coffee from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and did not pay for it.

May 17. Shoplifting. A man purchased a gift card for $250 from a cashier at the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue and then told the cashier he wanted to cancel the transaction, grabbed the money and the card and ran.

May 17. Theft. A complainant told police that an offender took a $749 motor scooter that was still in the package from her front porch.

May 18.  Aggravated Assault.  A complainant in the 7100 block of Ardleigh Street told police that his daughter’s mother swung a bat, striking him on his hand and then began swinging at his 2017 Buick LaCrosse.

May 19. Theft. Complainant in the 700 block of Vernon Road told police someone stole her license plate and replaced it with a stolen tag.
