The following is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the two-week period from March 11 to March 25. 

Chestnut Hill

March 11. Theft from vehicle. A complainant reported that an offender took items including credit cards from a car parked at the unit block of Valley Green Rd. The card was later used at the Wawa on Germantown Avenue.

March 11. Theft. A woman took a bottle of Espolon Tequila and a bottle of Rose Bourbon from the Fine Wine & Good Spirits store in the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue.

March 11. Property damage and vandalism. A complainant reported that the front driver’s side of their vehicle in the 300 block of West Northwestern Avenue was shattered, the car rummaged through and a backpack unzipped, but nothing was taken.

March 13. Theft. An employee at the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue reported that a man and woman took approximately $375 worth of items they didn’t not purchase and fled on foot.

March 14. Theft of vehicle. The complainant told police she went on a trip and when she returned to her apartment in the 7600 block of Stenton Avenue, her car was missing from the parking lot.

March 15.  Theft. A complainant parked his car in the unit block of Valley Green Road, when for a walk, came back and found his window smashed and wallet stolen.

March 17. Theft. An employee at the CVS in the 7700 block of Germantown Ave. saw offenders take medicine and grocery items without paying for them.

March 18. Theft from motor vehicle. Someone left their 2022 Honda Civic unlocked on the 200 block of East Highland Ave. and returned to find their driver's license and bank cards had been stolen. 

March 18. Motor vehicle theft. Someone who lives on the 700 block of Wolcott Drive reported that when they came outside to walk their dog their car was no longer parked in the driveway. 

March 20. Theft. An offender filled two large bags with $423.18 worth of items from the CVS at 700 Germantown Ave. and then boarded the Route 23 bus, where he was apprehended.

March 24. Theft.  A woman reported that someone stole her credit card and used it to buy $900 worth of groceries at Weavers Way. 

March 25. Vandalism of property. A woman reported that someone ransacked her 2019 red Nissan car, which was parked on the 7700 block of Germantown Ave., and stole $10 in cash. 

Mt. Airy

March 3. Theft. Two offenders stole $40 worth of facial products from the WaWa on the 7200 block of Germantown Ave.

March 10. Theft. A store manager told police that two people took soda and candy from the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and didn’t pay for the items.

March 12. Theft. A wallet with credit cards and identification was stolen from a residence in the 900 block of East Cliveden Street.

March 12. Theft. An offender walked out with items they did not pay for at the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Ave.

March 13. Theft.  A man told police that he forgot to close his garage door in the 600 block of West Allens Lane and the next day noticed that his bike was missing

March 13. Theft. A woman in the 7100 block of Lincoln Drive said items were delivered, but she never received them.

March 13. Theft.  A woman told police that she found objects in her vehicle askew, papers misplaced and wallet missing.

March 14. Theft. A witness reported seeing an offender take toilet paper from the Wawa in the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue and run away in an unknown direction.

March 14. Theft. A complainant woke to find her car ransacked and a pocket knife and cell phone missing in the 100 block of East Duval Street.

March 14. Theft. Several juveniles took several snack items without paying at the Wawa in the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and ran toward the Avenue

March 14. Intimidation/Threats. A complainant and his wife had a verbal dispute when the wife picked up a box cutter and swung it at the complainant who blocked the swing with his hand. March 15.

March 15. Aggravated assault. A complainant reported that a driver honked a car horn at her, so the complainant exited her car in the 7400 block of Stenton Avenue and began arguing with the offender who then mased the complainant and left.

March 16. Theft. A man left the Acme in the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue with charcoal and lighter fluid that he did not purchase.

March 17. Destruction of property /Vandalism. A woman reported that her silver Kia Optima’s back window and ignition were damaged, but nothing was taken.

March 19.  Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported that her car was stolen from the side of her home on the 600 block of Wayne Ave. She later found it using a tracking app on her phone. 

March 19. Burglary. Complainant that someone broke into the back window of a property on the 300 block of Vernon Road that was being worked on by Licenses and Inspections. Nothing was taken. 

March 21. Burglary. A man reported that he was lying on the bed in his third-floor bedroom on the 100 block of W. Mt. Airy Ave. when he heard someone knock over a board he props up outside his bedroom door, and then saw a man reflected in the mirror on the wall. The man, who then walked out of the house, was apprehended by police on the 7200 block of Germantown Ave.

March 23. Theft. A complainant parked their car on the 7700 block of McCallum Street and when they returned the passenger door was open and it had been ransacked.
