The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Jan. 1 to 8. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) Due to the holiday, the crime report for Jan. 8 to 15 will be included in next week’s paper. 

Chestnut Hill:

Jan. 1 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their car being broken into near the Wissahickon Park trailhead near West Bells Mill Road. Clothes, boxing equipment and a backpack were stolen.

The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Jan. 1 to 8. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) Chestnut Hill:

Jan. 1 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their car being broken into near the Wissahickon Park trailhead near West Bells Mill Road. Clothes, boxing equipment and a backpack were stolen.

Jan. 1 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their car being broken into near the Wissahickon Park trailhead near West Chestnut Hill Avenue. Nothing was stolen.

Jan. 2 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported their car being broken into near the Wissahickon Park trailhead near East Northwestern Avenue and West Wissahickon Avenue. Nothing was stolen.

Jan. 2 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported the black bag she placed on her passenger seat going missing while she was parked in the CVS parking lot located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Jan. 3 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman who went for a walk in Wissahickon Park had her car broken into near the trailhead at Park Line Drive and West Hortter Street.

Jan. 6 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported having her car window smashed while parked on the 500 block of West Willow Grove Avenue. Undisclosed items were stolen. 

Jan. 6 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported having her car window smashed while parked on the 500 block of West Willow Grove Avenue. A backpack was stolen. 

Mt. Airy:

Jan. 1 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car being stolen from the 500 block of Pelham Drive.

Jan. 1 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car being stolen from the 500 block of Carpenter Lane.

Jan. 1 Theft. A woman had her sneakers stolen by her brother on the unit block of Meehan Avenue. 

Jan. 1 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car being stolen from the 6600 block of McCallum Street.

Jan. 1 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported discovering his car window broken and steering column tampered with as it was parked on the 200 block of West Johnson Street.

Jan. 2 Theft. An offender was witnessed leaving the Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with food they did not pay for.

Jan. 2 Theft. A woman agreed to keep her TV in somebody else’s home, located on the 6600 block of Lincoln Drive, but has been unable to get it back.

Jan. 3 Theft. An offender was witnessed leaving the CVS, located on the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive, with laundry detergent and toothpaste they did not pay for. 

Jan. 4 Simple assault. A woman reported having been strangled and punched by a man in her house, located on the 300 block of East Upsal Street.

Jan. 4 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car being stolen from the 6500 block of Lincoln Drive.

Jan. 4 Theft. Multiple offenders were witnessed leaving the Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with food they did not pay for.

Jan. 7 Theft. An offender was witnessed leaving the Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, with food he did not pay for.

Jan. 7 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant accidentally left their vehicle unlocked on the unit block of West Allens Lane.
