The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Dec. 18 to Dec. 31. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.) 

Chestnut Hill:

Dec. 18 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead near Germantown Avenue and East Northwestern Avenue. A backpack and Christmas gifts were stolen.

Dec. 19 Theft. A woman reported her car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Northwestern Avenue and Thomas Road. A handbag and credit cards were stolen.

Dec. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman reported her car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Northwestern Avenue and Stenton Avenue. A pocketbook was stolen.

Dec. 20 Theft. A complainant reported a package being stolen from their front porch, located on the 8000 block of Crefeld Street.

Dec. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead on the unit block of West Bells Mill Road. Headphones and a tote bag were stolen.

Dec. 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead on the unit block of West Bells Mill Road. Headphones, a diaper bag and credit cards were stolen.

Dec. 22 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Northwestern Avenue and Thomas Road. A wallet and credit cards were stolen.

Dec. 22 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Valley Green Road. A purse containing credit cards was stolen.

Dec. 23 Motor vehicle theft. A woman had her car stolen from the 200 block of West Evergreen Avenue.

Dec. 23 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Valley Green Road. A laptop was stolen.

Dec. 23 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked on the 500 block of West Willow Grove Avenue. A bag was stolen.

Dec. 24 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at Kitchens Lane. Unspecified items were stolen.

Dec. 25 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Valley Green Road. A laptop was stolen.

Dec. 26 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Valley Green Road. A purse was stolen.

Dec. 26 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Valley Green Road. A backpack, headphones and gift cards were stolen.

Dec. 27 Theft from motor vehicle. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead on the unit block of West Bells Mill Road. An iPad and a briefcase were stolen.

Dec. 27 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Northwestern Avenue and Thomas Road. A backpack and credit cards were stolen.

Dec. 29 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at West Northwestern Avenue and Thomas Road. An ID, a diaper bag and credit cards were stolen.

Dec. 30 Theft. An offender stole a thermometer, vitamins and feminine products from the CVS located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue. 

Dec. 31 Theft. A man reported his car being broken into while it was parked near the Wissahickon Valley Park trailhead at Orange Trail and West Bells Mill Road. A wallet and credit cards were stolen.

Mt. Airy:

Dec. 1 Theft. A woman reported a package being stolen from her porch, located on the 300 block of East Allens Lane.

Dec. 19 Aggravated assault. A man pulled out a gun inside of McMenamin’s Tavern, located on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue, but had his wrist grabbed before he could point it at anybody. The offender then left the location and left behind a loaded magazine in the process.

Dec. 19 Theft. A woman reported a package being stolen from her porch, located on the 7000 block of Crittenden Street.

Dec. 19 Shoplifting. The manager of the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, reported $100 worth of Red Bull being stolen by an offender who fled the store.

Dec. 20 Theft. A woman reported her credit card being stolen on the 100 block of East Sharpnack Street. An offender spent $1,000 on the card before she could cancel it. 

Dec. 21 Shoplifting. Unknown offenders left the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, taking several items without paying for them.

Dec. 21 Robbery. A man robbed a store located on the 6500 block of Greene Street with a gun. He made off with $100. 

Dec. 21 Shoplifting. A man left the CVS, located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue, with cold medicine and did not pay for it.

Dec. 22 Carjacking. A man reported that he was approached by an offender who pointed an AK-47 at him and demanded his car keys. The offender fled with the vehicle. 

Dec. 22 Shoplifting. Unknown offenders took several items from the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, and did not pay for them.

Dec. 22 Shoplifting. An unknown offender left the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, and took several items from the store without paying for them.

Dec. 22 Shoplifting. Four unknown offenders took items worth $100 from the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, and they did not pay for them.

Dec. 23 Robbery. A woman had her firearm stolen by an offender after an altercation. The incident happened on the 1000 block of East Cliveden Street.

Dec. 25 Motor vehicle theft. A woman had her car stolen from the 6300 block of Greene Street.

Dec. 26 Burglary. A homeowner reported their home, located on the unit block of Pleasant Street, being burglarized. Windows were stolen from the house.

Dec. 26 Shoplifting. An unknown offender took soda and candy from the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, and left without paying for the items.

Dec. 29 Motor vehicle theft. A woman returned to her car, parked on the 300 block of West Johnson Street, to find that an offender had tampered with her steering column.

Dec. 30 Shoplifting. An unknown offender took food items from the Mt. Airy Wawa, located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue, and left without paying for them. 

Dec. 31 Motor vehicle theft. A woman’s car was stolen from the 6800 block of Emlen Street.

Dec. 31 Motor vehicle theft. A woman returned to her car, parked on the 6500 block of Emlen Street, to find that someone had tampered with her steering column.
