The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 18 to July 31.

The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from July 18 to July 31. (Some crimes that occurred on dates earlier than the current period but weren’t reported until later may be included.)

Chestnut Hill

July 24 Theft. A man reported that an unknown offender broke the right rear window to his car and took his credit card, sunglasses, shoes, an air mattress and diamond earrings on the 100 block of West Willow Grove Avenue. 

July 25 Theft from Motor Vehicle. A complainant reported that an offender stole cash from an unlocked vehicle on the 300 block of East Highland Avenue.

July 27 Theft. An offender took items from the store and left without paying on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 27 Theft. Another offender took items from the store and left without paying on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 27 Theft. An offender took items from the store and left without paying on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street.

July 27 Rape. A woman stated that throughout her three year long relationship, the offender would have sex with her without her consent while she slept after taking her sleeping pills, on the 7800 block of Stenton Avenue.

July 28 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A woman reported $40 being stolen from her car’s glove department after parking it on the unit block of West Southampton Avenue.

July 28 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A woman said that her car was left unlocked and an unknown offender stole a necklace and $50 on the 8000 block of Crefeld Street.

July 29 Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. A woman stated that someone broke the driver side front window of her vehicle on the 200 block of West Northwestern Avenue. No items were taken from the vehicle.

Mt. Airy

July 18 Burglary. A woman and her husband were out of town when an unknown offender broke into their home on the 500 block of East Durham Street, leaving the kitchen door opened, front window opened, and several glass panes broken. The neighbor of the home initially discovered the burglary, and it is currently unknown if anything is missing.

July 21 Burglary. A complainant stated that a man broke the lock, entered the apartment complex, and stole an unknown amount of packages from the mailroom on the 6800 block of Emlen Street.

July 24 Theft. A complainant said that a man took $300 worth of Thera Flu from the CVS located on the 7000 block of Lincoln Drive.

July 25 Motor Vehicle Theft. A man said that his car was stolen from his residence while it was parked overnight on the 7100 block of Boyer Street. It was recovered on the 2000 block of West Montgomery Avenue.

July 25 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman stated that an offender broke her rear passenger window and the ignition of her vehicle while it was parked on the 200 block of East Sharpnack Street.

July 25 Theft. A complainant said that an offender took candy and Red Bull from the Wawa on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and left without paying.

July 26 Motor Vehicle Theft. A woman stated that she left her vehicle parked on the 7100 block of Crittenden Street, and it is now missing and is not on tow file.

July 26 Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. A woman found her car parked on the 200 block of East Mt. Pleasant Avenue with a smashed window and a broken steering column.

July 26 Motor Vehicle Theft. A complainant reported that his car disappeared after parking it near the intersection of West Hortter Street and Pelham Road.

July 27 Burglary. A woman reported that her home, located on the 300 block of East Gowen Avenue, was burglarized while she was asleep. The offender entered through a kitchen window and took a laptop and an iphone.

July 27 Motor Vehicle Theft. A Hyundai Tucson was stolen from the 400 block of West Sedgwick Street.

July 28 Theft. A complainant said that he dropped his phone while walking his dog, and then witnessed the offender pick up his phone on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue and walk away.

July 28 Destruction/Damage/Vandalism of Property. A man stated that his car was broken into on the 6300 block of Burbridge Street. His rear driver side window was shattered and his steering column was damaged.

July 28 Credit Card/Automated Teller Machine Fraud. A man said that multiple iPads were purchased on Best Buy’s website using his Paypal account. He lives on the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 28 Theft. A complainant reported that a man stole juice, hash browns, and breakfast sandwiches from a store located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue.

July 30 Burglary. A complainant stated that the offender entered their home on the 7000 block of Clearview Street through the basement door and stole a debit card. The offender crashed into a neighbor’s bushes after attempting to steal a vehicle.

July 30 Burglary. A complainant said that someone entered their home on the 500 block of East Allens Lane through an open kitchen window and stole a purse containing house keys, car keys, a wallet, I.D, Social Security Card and $435 in cash. The complainant’s vehicle was also stolen.

July 30 Theft From Motor Vehicle. A woman came back to her parked vehicle on Lincoln Drive and West Abington Avenue and discovered that her front passenger and rear windows were smashed. The offender took insurance cards, credit cards and a driver license.

July 31 Motor Vehicle Theft. A car parked on the 6800 block of Anderson Street had its windows shattered and steering column tampered with.

July 31 Motor Vehicle Theft. Offenders entered an unlocked vehicle and broke the steering wheel column in an attempt to steal it on the 6800 block of Anderson Street. The offenders were unsuccessful and fled the scene on foot.

July 31 Burglary. A complainant on the 400 block of East Allens Lane discovered that their kitchen window was open and broken, and that items, including keys, a purse and cash, were stolen. 

July 31 Carjacking. A man was standing by the trunk of his car, which was parked on the 6000 block of Greene Street, when armed offenders approached him and took his vehicle. 

July 31 Motor Vehicle Theft. A man reported that someone smashed the rear window of his vehicle on the 300 block of East Mount Airy Avenue and popped the ignition.
