The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from May 15 - 21. 

Chestnut Hill

April 26 Theft. A bicycle was stolen from a garage that was left open on the 8100 block of Crittenden Street.

May 15 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman returned to her car, which was parked by the Wissahickon Trail entrance on Bells Mill Road, to find her window shattered and items, including her purse, stolen. 

May 19 Theft. A witness reported seeing a shopper leave the CVS on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue with various items, including body wash and medicine, that they did not pay for. 

May 19 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A man had the license plate stolen from his vehicle, which was parked on the 7700 block of Crittenden Street.

May 19 Burglary. A burglar entered the Chestnut Hill Post Office, located on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue. There is no information about whether anything was stolen. 

May 19 Burglary. A burglar entered Starbucks, located on the 8500 block of Germantown Avenue. There is no information about whether anything was stolen. 

May 20 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported having the catalytic converter stolen from their car, which was parked on the 8000 block of Crittenden Street.

May 20 Shoplifting. A witness reported seeing multiple offenders enter the wine and spirits store, located on the 8700 block of Germantown Avenue, and leave with items they did not pay for. 

May 20 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant returned to their car, which was parked by the Wissahickon Trail entrance on West Northwestern Avenue, to find the window shattered and items, including a wallet and cash, stolen. 

May 21 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant returned to their car, which was parked by the Wissahickon Trail entrance on West Northwestern Avenue, to find the window shattered and items, including a purse, a phone and credit cards, stolen. 

May 21 Theft. A man had bikes stolen from his garage, which is located on the 8100 block of Winston Road. The garage door was left open. He then saw the bikes listed for sale on Offer Up, and purchased them back. 

May 21 Theft. A complainant had a bike stolen from their garage, which is located on the 8100 block of Winston Road. The garage door was left open. The bikes were later listed for sale on Offer Up.

May 21 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having their car broken into on the 8100 block of Crittenden Street. Change was stolen. 

May 21 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported that his car, which previously had a smashed window caused by a break-in, was broken into again on the 7700 block of Stenton Avenue. The steering column had been tampered with. 

Mt. Airy 

May 12 Theft. A complainant who lives on the 6400 block of Musgrave Street reported having their babysitter take their television, boxes and an iPhone. The babysitter is refusing to give back the items.

May 15 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A man had the temporary license plate stolen from his vehicle, which was parked on the 6800 block of Sprague Street.

May 15 Vandalism. A complainant reported their car being broken into while it was parked on the 200 block of East Durard St. The window was shattered and the ignition was tampered with. 

May 16 Burglary. A woman returned to her home on the unit block of West Allens Lane to find her door broken and various items, including jewelry, an iPad and various purses, stolen. 

May 17 Shoplifting. A witness reported seeing multiple offenders enter the Acme, located at 7700 Crittenden Street, and leave with items they did not pay for.

May 17 Motor vehicle theft. A car was stolen on the 300 block of Pleasant Street.

May 20 Theft. A woman reported having packages stolen from her porch, which is located on the 300 block of East Sharpnack Street.

May 20 Burglary/vandalism. A woman reported witnessing another woman break into a home on the unit block of East Gowen Avenue by smashing a window with a field hockey stick. 

May 20 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the 7000 block of Crittenden Street.

May 20 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the 7100 block of Boyer Street.

May 21 Theft. A man reported having packages almost stolen from his porch, which is located on the 300 block of East Sharpnack Street. He was able to catch the offender in the act and chase him off. 

May 21 Vandalism. A complainant reported their car being broken into while it was parked on the unit block of West Upsal Street. The window was shattered and the ignition was tampered with.
