The following report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Feb. 20 - 27. 

Chestnut Hill

Feb. 22 Burglary. Video footage captured two offenders entering a home on the 400 block of West Chestnut Hill Avenue and ransacking all the rooms on the second and third floor. Some items, including jewelry, coins and clothing, were stolen. 

Feb. 24 Theft. A complainant reported witnessing offenders steal food items from the CVS located on the 7700 block of Germantown Avenue.

Feb. 25 Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported her car being stolen from the unit block of East Mermaid Lane. 

Mt. Airy 

Feb. 19 Motor vehicle theft/vandalism. A man reported his vehicle being stolen from the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue. The vehicle was recovered with a broken window and steering column on the 7500 block of Devon Street where the car was left blocking the street. Three juveniles were observed fleeing the vehicle.

Feb. 19 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the 400 block of East Allens Lane. 

Feb. 19 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the unit block of East Gowen Avenue.

Feb. 19 Theft. A resident at Germantown Home, located on the 6900 block of Germantown Avenue, reported one of her caregivers stealing bed sheets and then hitting her with a closed fist when she tried to take them back. 

Feb. 20 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the 7600 block of Germantown Avenue.

Feb. 20 Vandalism. A woman reported someone breaking into her vehicle, which was parked on the 300 block of East Willow Grove Avenue, by breaking a window. The steering column had also been tampered with.

Feb. 21 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car going missing from where he parked it on the 7900 block of Winston Road.

Feb. 21 Motor vehicle theft. Video evidence shows a man punching the window of a woman’s car, which was parked on the 1000 block of East Cliveden Street, and tampering with the steering column. The offender then drives off with the car. 

Feb. 21 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car being stolen from the 7200 block of Cresheim Road.

Feb. 21 Theft. Store footage shows offenders taking food items from the Wawa located on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue and leaving without paying. 

Feb. 22 Shoplifting. An offender left the Acme on the 7000 block of Germantown Avenue with items she did not pay for. 

Feb. 22 Vandalism. A woman complained of an offender trying to break into her apartment, located on the 7200 block of Crittenden Street. Her lock was partially broken. 

Feb. 23 Motor vehicle theft. A woman reported her car missing from where she parked it, on the 6900 block of Ardleigh Street.

Feb. 23 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported their car going missing from where they parked it, on the corner of East Gorgas Lane and Anderson Street.

Feb. 24 Theft from motor vehicle. A woman complained of somebody breaking the window of her car and stealing items, including a military ID and army uniforms. The car was parked on the 200 block of Slocum Street.

Feb. 25 Theft. A woman was reported having left Breakfast Boutique, located on the 6800 block of Germantown Avenue, with food she did not pay for. 

Feb. 26 Motor vehicle theft. A man reported his car being stolen from the corner of East Cliveden and Ross Streets.

Feb. 26 Theft. A man had his firearm stolen from his person while at a party on the 400 block of East Upsal Street.

Feb. 27 Theft. A complainant reported that they have video footage of an offender stealing two lanterns from the front steps of their home, located on the unit block of East Johnson Street.
