The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Oct. 3 - Oct. 9. 

Chestnut Hill

Oct. 5 Motor Vehicle Theft. Complainant told police his 2021 Acadia GMC was stolen from the 200 block of East Mermaid Lane, and that it had a tracker in it. Police recovered the vehicle later that evening in the 18th Police District in West Philadelphia. 

Oct 5. Theft. A complainant parked a car on Bells Mill Road near the entrance to the Wissahickon Trail and went for a walk. When they came back, the front passenger window had been smashed and a Lenovo laptop and two bags containing a wallet and various credit cards were stolen. 

Oct. 5 Theft. Two complainants who parked their 2015 Jeep Wrangler and a 2020 Chevy Tahoe on Northwestern Avenue near Germantown Avenue returneded to find the front windows broken and various items stolen, including a purse with $400 cash, credit cards and a Dell laptop.

Oct 6 Theft. A complainant parked her car on Valley Green Road near the park and when she came back, it had been broken into and a blue purse containing some makeup and a wallet with $462 cash and credit cards had been stolen. 

Oct 9 Theft. An employee at the CVS on Germantown Avenue reported that an offender went through the aisles and filled a cart with various items, including about 77 bath products, left without paying and fled. 

Mt. Airy

Aug. 28 Theft. Woman who lives on the 6900 block of Cresheim Road reported that she had multiple caregivers in her home, and that a gold chain she left in a basket in the living room is now missing. 

Sept. 1 Motor vehicle theft. Man said he parked his car on the 300 block of East Gorgas Lane, left it there and then realized it had been stolen after getting tickets in the mail. 

Oct 2 Burglary. The owner of Zsa's Ice Cream parlor on the 6600 block of Germantown Ave reported their video surveillance footage showed two unknown offenders breaking into the rear of the store. No damage was done and nothing was taken. 

Oct 3 Burglary. A complainant said her boyfriend left the house in the 6600 block of Sprague Street at 8:30 a.m., and when she returned at 6 p.m. her bathroom window’s security bars were torn off the wall and the bottom front door lock was unlocked. Some property was taken. 

Oct. 3 Aggravated Assault. Complainant called police after two men were shot on the 6300 block of Musgrave Street. Complainant told police the two had approached him from an unknown location. When police arrived, one man had a gunshot wound to the stomach and a second man had been shot in the back and 35 hell casings were on the road. Both men were taken to the Albert Einstein Medical Center for treatment. 

Oct. 3 Theft. Complainant called police to a home on the 7700 block of McCallum Street to report that his California King size mattress and about $1,000 worth of furniture were missing. The issue is related to a dispute with his moving company. 

Oct 3 Motor Vehicle Theft. Complainant parked a white 2020 Kia Sorrento worth $26,000 on the 200 block of Sydney Street and when he got home from work it had been stolen. 

Oct 4 Robbery. Police responded to a robbery in progress at the Rite-Aid on the 8200 block of Stenton Ave at 8:48 p.m. A security guard and cashier on duty told police that five Black males wearing ski masks and rubber gloves came into the store and announced it was a robbery. One offender stood at the door while the other four rooted through the store, taking $600 in cash from the register and various pills. 

Oct. 4 Theft. Two complainants parked their car on Kitchens Lane and went for a walk. When they returned the rear window had been smashed and a $200 camera tripod had been stolen as well as a purse containing $50 and various bank cards. 

Oct 5 Aggravated Assault. A social worker at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia called police about a patient who said she had been sitting on a couch at her home on the 360 block of Sharpnack Street when her mother, who was angry at her, began punching and kicking her. The child fled to a friend's house, who called an ambulance. Police observed swelling and bruising to the child’s eye and both arms. D.H.S. was notified. 

Oct. 5 Theft. A complainant reported that the catalytic converter was stolen from her Ford 250 truck, which had been parked on the 7100 block of Germantown Ave.

Oct 5 Theft. A complainant reported that two women came into the wine and spirits store on the 7200 block of Germantown Ave. and took three bottles of alcohol without paying. 

Oct 6 Theft. A manager at the WaWa store on the 7200 block of Germantown Avenue reported that someone took three packs of cigarettes and some candy and chips and left the store without paying. 

Oct 6 Theft and Credit Card fraud. Complainant parked their car at the corner of Park Line Drive and W. Hortter Street and found it had been broken into, and a diaper bag containing a wallet with cash and various credit cards stolen. The card was later used at a Rite-Aid. 

Oct 9 Attempted robbery. Complainant told police that some offenders approached her car on the 500 block of W. Mt. Airy Ave. and said “give me everything you have.” She gave them a package and then pressed the car horn, then they dropped the package and ran.
