The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period from Aug. 8-15.
Chestnut Hill
Aug. 8 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having their car windows smashed while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. A credit card was stolen.
Aug. 8 Embezzlement. A complainant reported that a woman walked into the manager’s office at El Poquito, a Mexican restaurant on the 8200 block of Germantown Avenue, and stole $5,000 from a safe.
Aug. 9 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having their car windows smashed while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. A cooler and sunglasses were stolen.
Aug. 10 Theft from motor vehicle. A complainant reported having their car windows smashed while parked near the Wissahickon Trail parking lot on Valley Green Road. Air pods, a bag, an EpiPen, medication, debit and credit cards, a social security card and a driver’s license were stolen.
Aug. 12 A complainant who was out walking their dog returned to their car, which was parked near where Abington Avenue turns into Lincoln Drive, to find that a window had been broken and a wallet containing $30 and a debit card had been stolen.
Aug. 13 Robbery. A teller at the TD Bank, located on the 8600 block of Germantown Avenue, reported an offender trying to rob the bank. The offender was stopped in a nearby location.
Mt. Airy
June 10 Theft. A complainant states that he had given an offender scaffolding equipment that was never returned to the 7000 block of Ardleigh Street.
July 29 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported returning from vacation to find his car missing from the 7000 block of Emlen Street.
Aug. 6 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported returning home on the 300 block of Pelham Road to find their car missing.
Aug. 9 Carjacking. A complainant reported two men coming up to her on the 6700 block of Stenton Avenue and pointing a gun at her. They demanded her car keys. She threw her keys and cell phone at them as she screamed for help and the men took off with her car.
Aug. 9 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen from her car, which was parked on the 700 block of East Sharpnack Street.
Aug. 9 Theft. A complainant reported that her tenants are stealing her mail from her residence at the 6900 block of Ardleigh Street.
Aug. 10 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen from their car, which was parked on the 6800 block of Sprague Street.
Aug. 12 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen from their car, which was parked on the 100 block of East Mt. Airy Avenue.
Aug. 12 Theft. A complainant reported people stealing $1,200 from his house, located on the 7100 block of Sprague Street, while he was in the bathroom.
Aug. 13 Theft. A complainant reported having her car rummaged through while it was parked on the 6800 block of Cresheim Road. Nothing was stolen.
Aug. 13 Theft of motor vehicle parts. Two complainants reported catalytic converters being stolen from their vehicles, which were parked on the 6800 block of Gorsten Street.
Aug. 13 Theft of motor vehicle parts. A complainant reported the catalytic converter being stolen from his vehicle, which was parked on the 200 block of East Upsal Street.
Aug. 14 Motor vehicle theft. A complainant reported returning home to find their car missing from the unit block of East Springer Street.
