The following crime report is for crimes reported in Chestnut Hill and Mt. Airy for the period between May 10 to May 17. Some dates earlier than the current period took place at that date and reported after the fact.

Chestnut Hill

May 4 Theft from vehicle on the 100 block of E. Highland Ave. A man told police his car was parked at the location for several days. When he went to use his car, he noticed the license plate was missing.

May 12 Attempted burglary on the 300 block of E. Willow Grove Ave. A woman said a man tried to gain entry to her home and failed before fleeing in a dark blue Dodge. Security camera footage confirmed the report.

May 12 Theft at the 200 block of W. Evergreen Ave. A woman left her purse in the lobby at the location. When she returned, it was missing.

May 14 Retail theft on the 8000 block of Germantown Ave. A store employee witnessed a person take a Gatorade, beef jerky and a bag of chips and flee the store without paying. Items valued at $15.

May 15 Theft on the 7800 block of Winston Rd. A man told police he hired an appliance company to install a new air conditioning unit in his bedroom and had his neighbor let the company into his home. He later discovered that two wallets containing $1,200 in cash combined, three rings worth a total of $1,940, a necklace worth $532, two watches worth a combined $1,255 and $400 in cash was missing.

Mt. Airy

May 8 Stolen car on the 6700 block of Musgrave St. A person reported their car parked at the location was missing.

May 8 Theft from Vehicle at Cherokee Street and West Mt. Pleasant Avenue. A woman said she found the rear panel of her truck broken into and a number of camping items missing, including a camping mattress, sleeping bag, camping chairs, a beach umbrella and pillows. Including damages, total loss was estimated to be worth $1,370.

May 11 Theft from vehicle on the 1000 block of Kitchen’s Lane. A woman parked her car at the location and returned to find the front passenger side window broken. Taken was a small leather Fossil bag that contained her driver's license, credit cards and $80 in cash.

May 11 Theft from vehicle on the 1000 block of Kitchen’s Lane. A woman parked her car at the location and returned to find a passenger side window broken. Taken was a blue, shoulder bag that contained credit cards, driver's license, two pairs of earrings worth $350 each.

May 12 Aggravated assault on the 6600 block of Lincoln Drive. A man told police that he got in a verbal argument with his stepfather. The stepfather struck the man with a “window weight” which broke the man’s arm. The man told police his father had bipolar disorder and had been acting aggressively recently.

May 14 Theft from vehicle on the 6400 block of Germantown Ave. A woman told police someone broke her rear passenger side window and took cat food and other assorted items of clothing.

May 15 Theft from vehicle on the 600 block of E. Upsal St. A woman found her passenger side window broken and her car rummaged through. Only things missing were two pairs of glasses.
